IRETON, Iowa -- Waune Van Donge, 47, of Ireton died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at Hawarden Community Hospital in Hawarden, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig, Iowa, with the Rev. A. Pete Petersen officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Ireton. Visitation will begin at noon today, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Porter Funeral Home in Ireton.
Waune J. Van Donge was born July 7, 1955, in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Jarold and Neva (Hoogland) Van Donge. He graduated from West Sioux High School in 1973. He served in the U.S. Army from 1973 until his medical discharge in 1975.
He was employed in the Ireton area and married Gayle Feekes on July 7, 1995.
He enjoyed restoring old cars and showing them in car shows. He was a member of Ireton American Legion Post 276. He was active in the Eagles Club, currently the president of Le Mars Eagles Club, former president of the Hawarden Eagles Club and a former president of Western Zone.
Surviving relatives include his parents, Jarold and Neva of Ireton; his wife, Gayle of Ireton; a son, Weston Van Donge and his fiancee, Becky Smith, of Ireton; and a sister and her husband, Wauneva "Peanut" and Steve Wagers of Ireton.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ed Sr. and Gertrude Van Donge and Jacob and Olga Hoogland.
