WESTFIELD, Iowa - Thomas J. Adkins, 64, of Olathe, Kan., formerly of Westfield, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, in Leavenworth, Kansas. Graveside services were held April 9 in Leavenworth National Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Memorial Chapel in Olathe. Mr. Adkins was born Aug. 21, 1936, in Sioux City, the son of Harold and Carren Adkins. He was raised in Westfield by his mother and stepfather, Walter Holder, after his father's death. He attended Westfield schools. He married Francis Adkins. She preceded him in death. He later married Patricia (Burke) Parnell. He had been a resident of Liberal, Kan., for 22 years, prior to moving to Olathe several years ago. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Julie Warren and Michelle Adkins; two sons, Tom and David Adkins; a brother, Leonard Adkins; a sister, Mavis Kvidera; two daughters-in-law, Tammy and Donna; a son-in-law, Randy; and seven grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather.
