Mrs. Peter Reese, of Washington township, Stricken with Apoplexy
Mrs. Reese, the wife of Peter Reese of Washington township, was stricken with apoplexy on Monday evening about nine o'clock and died in a few minutes before medical aid which was summoned could arrive.
Mrs. Reese had been in Le Mars during the day shopping and was apparently in her usual good health. On returning home she looked after the household duties and was preparing to go to bed when she was stricken.
Mrs. Reese had always enjoyed the best of health and there was no premonition or warning of the fact that her sojourn on earth was ended and her sudden taking away is a tremendous shock to her husband and children and to her relatives. She had visited with friends in town and on her way home and seemed particularly well and happy.
Mrs. Reese was about thirty-nine years of age and besides the bereaved husband leaves seven children to mourn. She was a daughter of William Pecks, of Grant township and a niece of Gerhart Pecks of this city.
The funeral was held at Zion church in this city yesterday afternoon and was largely attended by friends and neighbors. Rev. J. J. Vollmar pastor of the church, officiated.
