LE MARS, Iowa -- Margaret (Kommes) Thill, 97, of Le Mars died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Andrew Hoffmann officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery in Oyens, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m. and a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., all at Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.

The former Margaret M. Kommes was born July 8, 1905, on a farm in Plymouth County near Le Mars and Oyens, the daughter of John and Anna (Tharnish) Kommes. She was raised in the Oyens area and attended St. Catherine's Parochial School and Church in Oyens. After her mother's death, Margaret took care of her father. She moved with her father to Le Mars in March 1947. She worked at Sacred Heart Hospital in Le Mars.

Margaret married Joe Thill on Nov. 20, 1965, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars. Joe died on Dec. 7. 1969.

Margaret was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers Society. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, knitting and quilting. She donated many of her items to the hospital boutique.

Survivors include two stepdaughters, Joanne McClintoch of Wisconsin, and Renae Koehn of Sterling Heights, Mich.; a stepdaughter-in-law, Darlene Thill of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a sister-in-law, Natalie Kommes of Madison, S.D.; numerous stepgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Mabel Kommes; a brother, Francis Kommes; and a stepson, Don Thill.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Kommes, Richard Kommes, Gerald Sitzmann, Dan Thill, Bryan Thill and Pat Thill.
