Edward Francis Ruppert, 92, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at a Sioux City nursing home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Timothy Hogan officiating. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday in St. Mary's Cemetery, Maurice, Iowa. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., a Knights of Columbus and Catholic Daughters of America rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Northside Funeral Home.

Edward was born April 30, 1911, in Currie, Minn., the son of John and Mary (Weiler) Ruppert. He attended a country school in Currie and graduated from Immaculate Heart of Mary High School in Currie. He also attended the Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis.

On Nov. 23, 1932, he married Mary Keough in Le Mars, Iowa. The couple lived in Currie until 1965. While in Currie, he owned and operated a plumbing, heating and hardware store. In 1965, they moved to Le Mars and then to Iowa City, Iowa. He retired in 1977 and they moved to Sioux City.

He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and a 73-year member of Knights of Columbus. He was currently a member of the St. Michael's Council of the Knights of Columbus.

He was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department in Currie from 1929 to 1965. He was an honorary life member of the Minnesota State Fire Department Association. He was a member of the Minnesota Retail Hardware Association 25 Year Club and the Minnesota State Board of Master Plumbers.

In Sioux City, he did volunteer work at Marian Health Center and delivered Meals-on-Wheels.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Mark of Rochester, Minn., and William and his wife, Dottie, of Sacramento, Calif.; three daughters, Colleen Mayock of Seattle, Wash., Virginia and her husband, Jim Klein, of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Kathleen Hall of Gainsville, Fla.; six grandchildren, Jonathan Ruppert, Rebecca Marcus, Khyan and Melanie Mayock, Eric Klein and Joshua Hall; and a great-granddaughter, Alexis Klein.

He was preceded in death by two sons and a daughter in infancy; three brothers; and five sisters.

Pallbearers will be Patrick O'Hara, John Small, Gene Russell, William Berger, Richard Hall and Skip Lagan.
