REMSEN, Iowa -- Patrick "Pat" Roder, 51, of Cherokee, Iowa, formerly of Remsen, died suddenly Friday, June 4, 2004, at his residence from natural causes.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.
Patrick "Pat" Roder was born Sept. 23, 1952 at Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Jerry and Peg Roder. He was raised in the Remsen area and received his education at St. Mary's Catholic School from which he graduated in 1970. He was then employed at the Remsen Lumber Company for several years. He worked most of his life in the road construction industry as a concrete finisher and was most recently employed at Advanced Brands in Orange City, Iowa.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Remsen. His friends all knew him as "Smoky". He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his mother, Peg of Sioux City; three sisters, Susan and her husband, Fred Brown, Gerianne and her husband, Tom Olson and Janice Roder, all of Sioux City; five brothers, his twin brother, Michael, Steven and his wife, Sandi, all of Remsen, David at Indian Hills Care Center in Sioux City, Nicholas and Daniel and his wife, Judy, all of Sioux City; his special friend, Sue Nelson of Cherokee; 13 nieces and nephews; a great niece; and a great nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Klein.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Queen of Peace at Trinity Heights in Sioux City.
