LE MARS, Iowa -- Jason R. Puetz, 26, of Le Mars was pronounced dead on arrival Saturday, July 17, 2004, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, from injuries sustained in an automobile-tractor accident.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Kevin Richter officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Le Mars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a rosary at 4 p.m., a vigil service at 7 p.m., and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 8 p.m., all at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Jason Robert Puetz was born Oct. 12, 1977, in Le Mars, the son of Bob and Lisa (Dreckman) Puetz. He was raised in Le Mars and graduated from Gehlen Catholic High School in 1996. He attended W.I.T.C.C. in Sioux City and received a degree in landscape design in 1998.

Jason married Holly Herbst on Sept. 22, 2001, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars. Following their marriage, the couple lived in rural Merrill, Iowa. Jason was employed as the superintendent of Prairie Rose Golf Club in Brunsville, Iowa from 1998 until January of 2004. In October of 2003, Jason and Holly moved to Le Mars, where he had worked with his father since January of this year.

Jason was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, a 3rd Degree member of Knights of Columbus, Trinity Council 1466, The Le Mars Sportsman's Club and Pheasants Forever. Jason's favorite pastimes included hunting, golfing and trap shooting. He also took great pride in his work with landscaping, horticulture and general lawn care.

Survivors include his wife, Holly, of Le Mars; his parents, Bob and Lisa Puetz of Le Mars; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Darwin and Susann Herbst of rural Merrill; three brothers, Brad Puetz and his wife, Carrie, of Sioux City, Tod Puetz of Des Moines, Iowa and Cory Puetz of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a sister, Erin Puetz of Le Mars; a sister-in-law, Gwendy Lahrs and her husband, Ryan, of rural Merrill; his paternal grandparents, Evon "Gus" and Ann Puetz of Le Mars; and many cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Brad Puetz, Tod Puetz, Cory Puetz, Ryan Lahrs, Bryan Dreckman, Mark Schuttler, Vince Oordt and Nick Dreckman. Honorary pallbearer is Erin Puetz.

Jason would request that the dress code for his visitation and funeral be casual slacks or pants and a polo shirt.
