SHELDON, Iowa -- Carole Jean Peterson, 61, of Sheldon passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, while visiting her mother in Hawarden, Iowa.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sheldon, with the Rev. Robert J. Schimmer officiating. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Calvary Cemetery, Le Mars, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon.
Carole Peterson, the daughter of Henry and Dorothy (Wilhelmi) Peterson, was born Oct. 25, 1942, in Sioux City. She was baptized at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Sioux City.
She lived at Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon for about 27 years. She was presently living at the Alternative Living Home. She worked at Northwest Enterprise, was an aide at Silver Home 354, and worked as a custodian at Oak Park Care Center and City Hall in Sheldon.
She was a hard working person and did her work to the best of her ability. She felt needed and valuable. She always appreciated the encouragement she received.
Her hobbies included, bowling, swimming, traveling, putting puzzles together, working crossword puzzles, watching TV and visiting her mother, nieces and nephews. Her family and friends were very important to her.
Her life was a testimony. She was strong in her faith and open in expressing her belief in the Lord. Romans 12 had special meaning to her. She especially liked the song, "Lord I Lift Your Name On High."
Those left to cherish her memories include her mother, Dorothy Peterson of Hawarden; three nephews, Mark and his wife, Chayo Opdahl, Matt and his wife, Connie Opdahl, and Mike Opdahl and his fiancee, Jen Limoges; two nieces and their husbands, Missy and Jeff Eilts and Molly and Mark Morgan; a great-nephew; six great-nieces; a brother-in-law, Larry Opdahl; and her friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Henry; two sisters, Lynn Opdahl and Jane Peterson; her maternal and paternal grandparents; and two uncles.
Pallbearers will be Larry, Mark, Mike and Matt Opdahl, Jeff Eilts and Mark Morgan.
