SERGEANT BLUFF -- Le Roy H. Pick, 83, of Sergeant Bluff died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, Iowa, with the Rev. Don Slaven officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Salix. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.
Mr. Pick was born Jan. 3, 1919, in Remsen, Iowa, the son of Henry and Katherine Pick. He attended school in Remsen. He married Marcella Gale on Oct. 16, 1951, in Sioux City. She died in August 1988 in Sioux City. He had been a Sergeant Bluff resident since 1951. He was employed as a meat cutter at Armour and Company. Following his retirement from Armour and Company, he was employed by the city of Sergeant Bluff. He also worked at Aggie's Restaurant in Sergeant Bluff.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Conrad and Vicki Pick of Tea, S.D., and Edward and Sheila Pick of Sergeant Bluff; a daughter, Donna Pick and her special friend, Ken Gerdes of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Cyril and Peg Pick of Florida; five grandchildren, Alison, Adam, Lynn, Jenni and Ashley Pick; and a special friend, Ruth Scherner.
He also was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Barnable, and a brother, John Pick.
