MARCUS, Iowa -- Donald F. Nestor, 83, of Marcus died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church in Marcus, with the Rev. Liz Pfeifle officiating. Burial will be in Marcus-Amherst Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Rohde-Earnest Funeral Home in Marcus.

Donald Francis Nestor was born Oct. 17, 1920, in rural Marcus, the son of Henning and Cora (Sylvester) Nestor. He grew up in the Marcus area, graduating from Marcus High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from Sept. 9, 1942 to Oct. 4, 1945.

While serving in the Navy, he married Lillie Groepper in Miami, Fla., on June 3, 1944. After his honorable discharge, the couple made their home in Marcus. He farmed until his retirement. He entered Marcus Heartland Care Center in July 2004.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Douglas and Jane Nestor of Ottumwa, Iowa, and David and Jayne Nestor of Sheldon, Iowa; five grandchildren, Derek Nestor and his wife, Heidi, Brent Nestor and his wife, Molly, Shane Nestor and his fiancee, Jill, Emily Nestor and Kyle Nestor; three great-grandchildren, Dawson, Davis and Michael Nestor; and a sister, Evelyn Clarkson of Holstein, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lillie; a son, Darrell; a sister, Helen Niebuhr; and two brothers-in-law, Ben Niebuhr and Michael Clarkson.

Memorial may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or Faith Lutheran Church.
