NAME OF DECEASED & AGE: Mrs. Dan Snyder, 89, pioneer resident of Sioux City
DATE OF DEATH: Mrs. Snyder died Sunday a week ago
PLACE OF DEATH: …in Los Angeles, Calif, where she had made her home for 11 years.
CAUSE OF DEATH: Mrs. Snyder had been in ill health since she fractured her hip a year ago.
DATE OF BIRTH: March 18, 1846
PLACE OF BIRTH: Dubuque, Iowa
PARENTS: She moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Rea, to Sioux City in 1854, before the original town was platted. The trip across Iowa was made by ox team. They remained there for a few years, during which time Mr. Rea served as county recorder. County records were kept in his home and many of them were destroyed when his home burned.

OCCUPATION: The Rea family moved to Floyd community, later known as Hinton, where Mrs. Snyder lived until her marriage at the age of 18. She and her husband took up their residence in Sioux City 30 years ago where they resided until 15 years ago when her husband preceded her in death. For the last 11 years she had made her home with her son, Frank, in Los Angeles.

SURVIVORS: Besides Frank Snyder of Los Angeles and J.D. Snyder of Sioux City, Mrs. Snyder is survived by a son, George, of Los Angeles; three daughters, Mrs. George Noble of Independence, Cal., Mrs. Vina Weinrich of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Olive Cassady of Los Angeles; and 15 grandchildren, several living in Hinton and vicinity.

PLACE OF BURIAL: Funeral services were held Monday.
