NAME OF DECEASED & AGE: Mrs. Dora Spies, resident of Plymouth County for 70 years. She was age 83 years, 10 months and 4 days old.
DATE OF DEATH: February 11, 1947
PLACE OF DEATH: …at the Sacred Heart hospital, LeMars, IA
CAUSE OF DEATH:
DATE OF BIRTH: April 7, 1863
PLACE OF BIRTH: …in Germany
PARENTS: Maria and Carl Sternberg
SPOUSE & DATE & PLACE of 1st MARRIAGE: Ruben J. Spies, March 17, 1885
SPOUSE & DATE & PLACE of 2nd MARRIAGE: ---
OCCUPATION: She came to this country at the age of seven with her parents and settle in Galena, Ill, and later moved to Plymouth County, Iowa, where she assisted her father in a tailor shop until her marriage.
MEMBER OF: Melbourne Evangelical Church, the W.M.S. and Floyd P.T.A.
SURVIVORS: Five of their seven children survive: William and Milton of Merrill; Fred of Hinton; Mrs. Carrie Koenig of Pomona, Calif.; Mrs. Esther Schindel of LeMars. Other survivors are 21 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and two brothers, John Sternberg of Kingsley and Charles Sternberg of Seattle, Wash.
PRECEDED in DEATH by: …was her husband; a son, Phillip; a daughter, Albena Dennler; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Emmery.
PLACE OF BURIAL: Funeral services will be held at the Melbourne Church on Friday afternoon, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m.
