DARVIN SCHULZ DROWNED SUNDAY

Herman Schulz went to Lakefield, Minn., Sunday to visit a brother who was going to a hospital for an operation this week and while he was in the home of his brother, Will Schulz, word was received that the latter’s son, Darvin, and grandson, Bob, had drowned in Heron Lake.

The father and two sons had gone out on the lake to try out a new boat and the boat upset in the rough waters. Mrs. Schulz who went with them to the lake saw the accident and drove in the car for help but by the time she returned her husband and youngest son, Bob, aged 8, had drowned. The 11-year-old boy, Will, hung onto the boat for 3 hours before he was rescued. A seine was secured and Darvin’s body was not recovered until Monday.

Will Schulz [Darvin’s father] was reared in Stanton township and moved to Minnesota about the time Darvin was born 37 years ago. Will and Darvin Schulz have been operating an undertaking business in Lakefield.—LeMars Sentinel
