MARCUS, Iowa -- Dorothy I. Neir, 85, of Marcus died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grace United Methodist Church in Marcus. Burial will be in Marcus-Amherst Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m., at Earnest-Rohde Funeral Home in Marcus.
Dorothy was born April 6, 1918, in Remsen, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore and Mary (Schmidt) Moeller.
She married Harley Neir on April 20, 1938, in Remsen. After their marriage, they farmed northwest of Marcus for many years. In 1977, they retired and moved to Marcus. Harley died March 7, 1994.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and she served as a Sunday School teacher. She also was a member of the Birthday Club and was a 4-H leader. She enjoyed baking, entertaining, playing cards and in later years, she enjoyed listening to audio cassette book tapes.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Dwight Moats of Marcus and Suzzann and John Todd of Gilbert, Ariz.; a son and his wife, Ron and Jerene Neir of Storm Lake, Iowa; six grandchildren, Kim Phillips and her husband, Steve, Mike Moats and his wife, Yvonne, Tina Royer and her husband, Eric, David Todd and his friend, Connie, Jennifer Royer and her husband, Ryan, and Mary Daniels and her husband, Todd; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Emma Moeller of Remsen; and a sister-in-law, Estel Neir of Hutchinson, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harley; four brothers, Alfred, Fernie, Lon and Ervin Moeller; and three sisters, Alma Moeller, Lilla Moeller and Toddy Hornung.
