KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Mildred G. Nairn, 89, of Kingsley died Friday, June 6, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Meadow Star United Methodist Church in rural Washta, Iowa, with the Revs. Bill Cotten and Dan Anderson officiating, Burial will be in Grand Meadow Cemetery in rural Washta. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m., at Rohde-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Mildred was born in 1914, the daughter of Andrew and Marjorie (Mahon) Little in Pawtucket, R.I. At the age of four, she and her family moved to the Grand Meadow area in Iowa. She graduated from Grand Meadow High School and attended Western Union College.

She and Forrest Nairn were united in marriage in 1936 at the Morning Star Parsonage in rural Washta. After their marriage, Mildred and Forrest farmed in the Grand Meadow area until 1942. After that they moved to a farm north of Kingsley, where they lived and farmed for 55 years until they moved to Kingsley in 1997. Her husband, Forrest died April 5, 2001. Mildred continued to live in Kingsley.

She was a member of the Union Township Presbyterian Church, where she played the organ and piano for many years. She enjoyed singing in the Sweet Adelines group and square dancing. Also, she was a very avid Hawkeyes fan and enjoyed crocheting afghans for her children and grandchildren.

Mildred is survived by two daughters, Bethene Maass and her husband, Kenneth, of Remsen, Iowa, and Rhonda Houle and her husband, Brett, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sons, Lanny Nairn and his wife, Donna, of Marlton, N.J. and Robert Nairn of Sioux City; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Forrest, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Albert Little.
