Forrest M. Marsh, 82, of Sioux City and longtime resident of the Leeds area, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital following a one-month illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Terry Templeton officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mr. Marsh was born July 2, 1920, in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Clayton and Esther (Kistner) Marsh. He came to Sioux City in 1930 and had lived here since. He graduated from Leeds High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Alaska.

He married Darleen Lubben on May 8, 1948, in Le Mars. She died Oct. 16, 1981, in Sioux City. He married Evelyn Welch on July 29, 1988, in Sioux City.

He was a driver and salesman for Metz Baking Co. for 29 years, retiring in 1977. He worked part-time for the Siouxland Regional Transit System from 1977 to 1996.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Monahan Post 64 and did volunteer work for the Siouxland Soup Kitchen.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of Sioux City; three daughters and their husbands, Alana and Mark Ketchum of Lake City, Iowa, Lynette Marsh-Hansen and Ron Hansen of Hedgesville, W.V. and LeAnn and Randy Rewinkel of Omaha; a brother and his wife, Merle and Grace Marsh of Carbondale, Kan.; a sister, Luella Nyreen of Sioux City; five stepsons, William Welch and his wife, Jody of Sioux City, Douglas Welch and his wife, Patti of Jefferson, S.D., Randy Welch and his wife, Kerry of Norwood, Colo., Terry Welch of Sioux City and Rodney Welch and his wife, Sarah of Elk Point, S.D.; five grandsons; 11 stepgrandchildren; a great-grandson; and three great-stepgrandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Jimmy; a stepdaughter, DeAnna Welch; a sister, Maxine Haller; and a stepgrandson, Michael Welch.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Berkenpas, Rodney Lantz, Clayton Ketchum, Alex Ketchum, Matthew Rewinkel and Patrick Rewinkel.

Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Siouxland Soup Kitchen.
