Evelyn C. Bierman, 83, of Holstein, and a former Cherokee resident, died Tuesday evening, March 17, 2009, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Evelyn was born July 8, 1925 in Le Mars, the daughter of Herman and Emma (Borm) Erichsen. She was married to Donald Bierman on Jan. 3, 1949, at Remsen. They lived most of their life on a farm south of Remsen. The couple retired and moved to Cherokee in 1978.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the Dorcas Circle and a Friendship Club. She enjoyed needlepoint, embroidery, traveling and fishing.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice Heller of Kirkland, Wash., and Judy Ehler and her husband David of Holstein; four grandchildren, Alan Heller of Kirkland, Wash., Eric Ehler of San Francisco, Calif., Shawn Regennitter and her husband Brian of Rome, Ga., and Sara Ehler of Seattle, Wash.; two great-grandchildren,Tanner Regennitter and Bebe Ehler; two sisters-in-law: Vivianne Erichsen of Remsen, and Marian Bierman of Pierson; also many loved nieces and one loved, favorite nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald on Feb. 7, 2006; one brother Elmer Erichsen and a brother-in-law Wesley Bierman.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee. The Rev. Larry Lemke will officiate. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Saturday. There will be no visitation. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee is in charge of the arrangements.
