AKRON, Iowa -- Kelli Ann Johnson, 6-year-old daughter of Kent and Kathy Johnson of Akron, died Thursday, June 13, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital following a three-year courageous battle with cancer.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, with Rev. Curtis Matson of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, with lunch served afterward at St. Patrick's Parish Hall. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron. Arrangements are under the direction of Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Kelli was born June 13, 1996, in Sioux City, the daughter of Kent and Kathy (Grieme) Johnson. Kelli just completed kindergarten at Akron Westfield School in Akron.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she attended Sunday school. She was a member of the Akron Dancers. In her free time she was an avid "Westerner" ball fan, loved to read, play on her "Rug Rats" computer, and most of all play with her friends and spend time with family. Kelli touched so many lives by her love for life and her laughter.
Survivors include her parents, Kent and Kathy (Grieme) Johnson; two sisters, Shelby and Tasha Johnson, both at home; paternal grandparents, Jerry and Mary Johnson of Early, Iowa; maternal grandparents, Ronald and Karen Grieme of Schaller, Iowa; two maternal great-grandmothers, Inez McDonough of Sac City, Iowa, and Mabel Grieme of Storm Lake, Iowa; four uncles, Kevin Grieme and his wife, Brenda, Doug Johnson and his wife, Tricia, Kevin Johnson and his wife, Kathy, and Brent Johnson and his wife, Lora; five aunts, Deb Ayers and her husband, Kelvin, Beth Whitmore, Genise Jentz and her husband, Joel, Terri Craig and her husband, Todd, and Karol Craig and her husband, Chris; and 18 cousins.
Kelli was preceded in death by two great-grandmothers and four great-grandfathers.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Grieme, Kelvin Ayers, Doug Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Brent Johnson, Joel Jentz, Todd Colt and Dan Utesch.
