Edward J. "Bud" Johnson, 78, of Sioux City died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at a Sioux City care center following a brief illness.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David Schoop officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mr. Johnson was born Sept. 7, 1924, in Merrill, Iowa, the son of Edward and Ethel (Kounkel) Johnson. When he was a young child, he moved with his parents to Sioux City. He attended St. Paul School in Sioux City and graduated from Leeds High School. He was a machinist with Sioux Tools for 40 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a brother, Larry Betsworth and his wife, Sherry of Sioux City; a sister, Bernice Muecke of Hinton, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Edward Betsworth, Denny Krause, Dwain Krause, Donny Muecke, Elgin Hofer and John Rumbaugh.
