Raymond H. "Ray" Speckmann, 84, of Sioux City, was taken home by his heavenly Father on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Merlin Schrad officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 5 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will resume 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Mr. Speckmann was born Dec. 14, 1919, in Kingsley, Iowa, the son of Frank and Magdalena (Peters) Speckmann. He came to the Leeds area of Sioux City as a child and attended Sioux City Schools.

He married Jeanette Smith on Feb. 10, 1945, in Sioux City. He worked for Iowa Public Service, now MidAmerican Energy, for 36 years.

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was president of the Lost Cord Club of Sioux City. He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, hunting and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Jeannie and Bill Henderson of Sioux City; two sons and their wives, Randy and Judy Speckmann of Sioux City and Ron and Deb Speckmann of Sioux City; a sister and her husband, Kathryn and John Frantz of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren, Kim, Stephanie, Sarah, Nicole, Chad, Alicia, Zach, Blake, Austin and Colin; and five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Katelynn, Brenden, Emmaline and Kristin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marcille Utecht; and a grandson, Nathaniel Speckmann.
