KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Minnie Carrie Sargent, 102, of Kingsley, formerly of Moville, Iowa, died Friday, March 5, 2004, at Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Moville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Harold E. Werley officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery, Moville. Arrangements are under the directionn of Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville.

Minnie was born Aug. 18, 1901, near Moville, to Gustav A. and Christina (Bremer) Jahn. She grew up and attended country school near Moville.

She married Lewis J. Sargent on June 7, 1922, at Moville. He passed away on Feb. 22, 1974. She had been a lifelong resident of the area.

She was a member of Moville United Methodist Church. She was a founding member of the Neighborly Arts Club. Minnie loved crocheting and made more than 125 afghans while at Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center.

Survivors include a son, George L. and his wife, Mae Maurene Sargent of Anthon, Iowa; three daughters, Louise Medcalf of Neligh, Neb., Clara Rumohr of Moville, and Mary Lou and her husband, Dwight Tabke of Moville; two brothers, Alfred Jahn and Harry Jahn, both of Moville; a sister, Emma Haring of Sioux City; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, three brothers, a grandson and a great-great-grandson.
