AKRON, Iowa -- Norma Carol Spain, 69, of Akron died Monday, June 21, 2004, at her residence.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron, with Chaplain Marie Lyken officiating. The body has been cremated. There will be no visitation.

Norma Carol Spain was born the daughter of Elver and Lela (Fleming) Fuson, in Custer, S.D.

She married John "Jack" Spain in 1969. He preceded her in death in 1979. She was employed at Akron Care Center as a housekeeper.

In her free time, she loved to bowl, read, work crossword puzzles and most of all spend time with her family.

Survivors include four sons, Robert Griggs of Alcester, S.D., Gary Griggs and his wife, Juanita of Oklahoma City, Okla., Reed Graves of Wasta, S.D., and John Spain and his wife, Patti of Custer, S.D.; two daughters and their husbands, Carolyn and Mike Connolly of Alma, Kan., and Connie and Leonard Henke of Akron; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four stepsisters, Shirley and her husband, Lloyd Clapper of Idaho, Pat Anderson of California, Terri and her husband, Kerm Midland of Washington, and Marge Drapeau of Idaho; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Ronnie Graves; three sisters, Betty Jean Graves, Barbara Chaffee and Bonnie McNeil; and two brothers, David Chaffee and Eugene Fuson.
