LE MARS, Iowa -- Teresa A. Schnepf, 79, of Le Mars died unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Daniel Greving officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery, Oyens, Iowa. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Sunday, with a Christian Mother's rosary at 4 p.m. and a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., at Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.

The former Teresa Anita Berns was born April 20, 1926, in Garnavillo, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Anna (Hoeger) Berns. She was raised in the Garnavillo area and attended St. Joseph's Parochial School and Church. She graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy in Dubuque, Iowa in 1943.

She married Magnus Schnepf on Jan. 30, 1951, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Garnavillo. The couple farmed in the Oyens, Iowa area until moving to Le Mars in 1975. Her husband, Magnus "Mac" Schnepf, died July 26, 2001.

For a number of years, she was an organist at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Oyens. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars and the Christian Mother's Society. She enjoyed traveling, music, reading novels and more than anything, she loved her family and cherished every moment she spent with them.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Patrick and Jill Schnepf of Ashland, Wis., and Michael and Jackie Schnepf of Le Mars; three daughters and their husbands, Mary and Daniel Augustine of Sioux City, Catherine Schnepf of Omaha and Sandra and Richard Berendes of Remsen, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Koopman of Garnavillo, Sister Rachel Berns, O.S.F., and Ann McTaggart, both of Dubuque, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Magnus "Mac" Schnepf; three brothers, Sylvester, Benedict and Cyril Berns; and three sisters, Sister Marcella Berns, O.S.F., Isabelle Bortscheller and Eunice Berns.

Pallbearers will be seven grandchildren, Ellie Schnepf, Traci Schnepf, Ryan Augustine, Melissa Lenz, Kayla Berendes, Joshua Berendes and Brian Schnepf. Honorary pallbearers will be five grandchildren, Christopher Augustine, Cathryn Jennissen, Sara Dreamer, Jobey Schnepf and Jessica Marx.

A special thank you to Judith Roddy, the staff at Park Place Estates and Dr. Thomas Duncan for the loving care extended to Teresa.
