SKOTVOLD, ANDERSON, FALK

LE MARS, Iowa -- Clarence "Ole" Skotvold, 85, of Le Mars died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at The Abbey in Le Mars.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church in rural Le Mars, with the Rev. Peter Boe officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, S.D. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.

Mr. Skotvold was born Dec. 18, 1916, in Centerville, S.D., to Chris J. and Kirsten (Anderson) Skotvold. He attended school in the Centerville area, then moved to Oakland, Calif., where he worked in the shipyard. He served in the U.S Army from July 16, 1942, at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., to Oct. 24, 1945. He was stationed in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theaters. He then returned to Centerville, where he worked as a truck driver.

He married Jean Falk on Aug. 29, 1949, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, S.D. They made their home in the Centerville area until moving to their farm near Sioux Falls in 1964. They retired from farming in 1997, then moved to the Falk farm near Le Mars.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and served on the cemetery board. He lived for his farming and enjoyed planting and raising trees.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Brenda and Jim Lintz of Hermosa, S.D.; two sons, Elvit and his fiancee, Helen Koepsell and Gary, all of Sioux Falls; three grandsons, Boe Lintz and his fiancee, Robbie Irving, Brian Lintz and Jason Skotvold; a sister, Clara Falk of Beresford, S.D.; and two brothers, Joe of Centerville, and Edwin and his wife, Dorothy of Colton, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Anna Ness.
