LIVED IN PLYMOUTH COUNTY 55 YEARS

Funeral services for Thomas Sweeney of Perry township were held on Tuesday morning of this week in St. Joseph church at Ellendale, Rev. T.J. McKenna, the pastor officiating, and interment was made in the Ellendale cemetery.

Mr. Sweeney was a resident of Plymouth County for 55 years and had a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. He was born July 15, 1862, at Loretto, Canada. When he was a child six years of age his parents came to the United States and settled near Dubuque in Iowa. The family migrated to Plymouth County in 1878 and resided here since.

Mr. Sweeney died in a hospital in Sioux City following a brief illness Saturday night. He is survived by his wife and daughters, Sister Mary Consolata of Shenandoah, Isadora Sweeney of Dubuque; Eileen of Hinton; and sons, Daniel, Thomas, Paul, George, and Richard of Hinton, and Peter Sweeney of Huron, S.D. Two sons, Al and Jack Sweeney, preceded him in death. He also leaves two brothers, Jos. Sweeney, of Billings, Mont., and John Sweeney of Hinton; and two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Burke of Dubuque, and Mrs. Geo. Pugh of Cedar Rapids.

Relatives from a distance in attendance at the funeral were: Mrs. Geo. Pugh of Cedar Rapids; Jos. Sweeney of Billings, Montana; his nephews, Samuel and George Burke of Dubuque; his cousins, Rev. Father John Costello and mother of Worthing, S.D.; Mrs. Nellie Costello and Hannah Mathews of Sioux Falls, S.D.
