George Brown Lived Here Sixty YearsGeorge W. Brown, who had lived in Plymouth County for 61 years, died Friday in a Sioux City hospital, aged 88 years, 7 months and 28 days. Mr. Brown was born in Lanark, Illinois, August 22, 1856, and came with his parents to Plymouth County in 1884, when they bought a farm southwest of LeMars later known as the Hilger farm. He later lived on the Betsworth farm and after that on a farm west of LeMars.
After the death of his parents, Mr. Brown, who never married, lived with his brother and in more recent years made his home with his brother, the late O. C. Brown, in Hinton. Some time after the death of the latter, he went to a nursing home in Sioux City where he lived for over a year before stricken with his last illness. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Oliver C., Frank, Benjamin and Charles Brown. The only surviving relatives are nieces and nephews.
Funeral services at the Mauer Funeral Home at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon were conducted by Rev. Wm. Gow of Sioux City and burial was in the LeMars City Cemetery.
Mr. Brown was a member of the Methodist church.

George Brown, a resident of Plymouth county for more than 61 years, passed away Friday in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness due to infirmities of his age. He was 88 years, 7 months and 28 days of age.
Mr. Brown was born at Lanark, Ill., August 22, 1856, and came with his parents to Plymouth county in 1884 when they bought land and located southwest of LeMars, later known as the Hilger farm. He later lived on the Betsworth farm and after that on a farm west of LeMars. After the death of his parents, Mr. Brown, who never married, made his home with his brother, the late O.C. Brown, in Hinton where they lived for about 25 years. The deceased has been at Sioux City the past year living in a nursing home. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Oliver, Frank, Benjamin, and Charles Brown. The only surviving relatives are nieces and nephews.
Mr. Brown had many friends who mourn his passing. He was a member of the Methodist church.
Funeral services were held at LeMars, Monday afternoon with Rev. W. Gow of Sioux City and a former pastor at Hinton, officiating. Burial was in the LeMars City Cemetery.
