MRS. JOSEPH BOGEN PASSED AWAY SUNDAY

Mrs. Joseph Bogen died at her home in Hinton, Sunday afternoon, August 5, of heart trouble. Mrs. Bogen had been in poor health for years and had spent several days the past month in a hospital, returning to her home only a few days before the attack that ended her life. A few minutes before the end came, she was visiting with members of the family who sat about her bedside.

Lydia Mary Held was born in Galena, Illinois, October 29, 1862, and moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Held, to LeMars while a young girl. She was married to Joseph Bogen in LeMars, December 28, 1893. Five children were born to this union, Alfred J., of Detroit, Mich., Gertrude M., of Akron, Ohio, Donald W. and Dorothy M., of Hinton. One son, Harold W., who lived in Rockford, Illinois, died a year ago. Four sisters also survive, Mrs. Theresa Huebsch and Misses Anna and Rosa Held, of LeMars, and Mrs. Nora Rhynsburger, of Orange City. She is also survived by four grandchildren.

Mrs. Bogen united with the Methodist Episcopal church while a young girl and was a faithful and helpful member of the church all her life.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 Tuesday morning at the First Methodist Episcopal church at LeMars, the pastor, Rev. J.R. Tumbleson, being assisted by Rev. W. E. Ellison, pastor of the Hinton Methodist church. Burial was made in the LeMars City Cemetery.

Mrs. Bogen spent more than a half century of her life in LeMars and the last 6 or 7 years in Hinton. She will be missed in church and social work and by many friends with whom she had associated for years.
