JOHN BANFORD
John Banford, whose home was at 500 7th Ave. SW in LeMars, passed away Friday, October 1, 1954, at the Sacred Heart Hospital. He had been sick for three months.
Mr. Banford was born on September 21, 1869, at Five Mile Town, Cavancleck township, Ireland. He came to this country when a young lad and followed the trade of cattle buyer until his retirement.
Millicent Carley and John Banford were married on June 19, 1919, at Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Deceased has resided in LeMars the past 20 years.
Funeral services were held today, Monday, October 4, at 2:00 p.m. at Luken’s funeral home. Rev. H.V. Bartz officiated and burial was in the city cemetery. Pallbearers were George A. Smith, Frank Varenhorst, Pete Bock, Hy Schipper, Roy Klemme and William Strause.
Survivors include his wife, Millicent; one daughter, Mrs. Esther Jewell of 501 2nd Ave. SW; a sister, Annie Banford and a brother, Harry, both of Ireland. Also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
