Nis Nissen Dead at Age 71; Tank Wagon Operator for 42 Years
Nis Nissen, 71, Omaha, who had formerly made his home in and near LeMars for 53 years, died Sunday, March 20, 1977, at the Maplecrest Nursing Home, Omaha.
Nis had been a Skelly tank wagon agent here 42 years.
John Gentleman funeral parlor, 72nd and Western, Omaha, is in charge of funeral arrangements. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 90th and Packer, Omaha, of which he was a member.
Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery, Omaha.
Nis was born at Dagebull, Germany, June 23, 1905, to Ludwig and Elfredo Ewald Nissen. He was baptized and confirmed in Germany and came to the United States at the age of 17.
He worked on a farm four years and then began employment with the Skelly Oil Co., as tank wagon agent.
His wife is the former Maxine Newman. The couple was married in 1934.
Survivors are his wife, Maxine; a daughter, Mrs. Werner (Juanita) Buske; two grandsons and a great granddaughter; three brothers, Herman and Ludwig, both in Germany; John in Canada; two sisters, Mrs. Carl (Freda) Johnson of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Richard (Louise) Hansen, Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers; a brother Henry of Sutherland and a sister Hella in Germany.
