Mrs. Jennie Roddy
Mrs. J. F. (Jennie) Roddy, 82, LeMars native and lifelong resident, died Friday (Jan. 20, 1978) at Plymouth Manor Care Center after a brief illness.
Jennie Lauters was born April 13, 1895, in LeMars to John and Mary Bortscheller Lauters. She was a member of St. James Catholic church and the Eagles auxiliary.
Her marriage to James F. Roddy took place April 20, 1915 in Oyens. He preceded her in death in 1969.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Bernard Roddy; a granddaughter and a sister.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Catholic church with Rev. Thomas Geelan officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, LeMars, under the direction of the Luken-Johnson funeral home.
Scripture service will be held Monday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Wilbur (Irma) Huff, LeMars; two grandchildren; five brothers, S.J. Lauters, San Diego; Frank of LeMars; Fred of Elcerrito, Calif.; Jack of Oak View, Calif., and Donald of Denver, and six sisters, Mrs. Martha Cronin, LeMars; Mrs. Henry (Rose) Alesch, Marcus; Mrs. Betty Thoms, Westminister, Colo.; Mrs. Celeste Stricklin, Denver; Mrs. Robert (Lucille) White, Elmhurst, Ill.; and Mrs. Anthonette Duncan, Lewiston, Idaho.
