LE MARS, Iowa—Marshall Jones Siple, 87, of LeMars, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Veterans Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars, with the Rev. Lynn Potter officiating. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Riverside Cemetery, Spencer, Iowa, with military rites conducted by American Legion Glen Pedersen Post 1 of Spencer. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Siple was born June 30, 1911, in Stanton, Va., the son of John P. and Carrie (Hammer) Siple. He moved to the LeMars area in the early 1930s. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married Ruth Elder on Jan. 8, 1950. He moved to Spencer, where he was employed in a restaurant and did carpentry work for several years. He moved to LeMars in 1955, and was employed at Pantry Café. He retired in the mid 1980s.
He was of the Methodist faith and a member of American Legion Wasmer Post of LeMars. He enjoyed cars, gardening and yard work.
Survivors include his wife; a niece and her husband, Anna Lee and Bob Plendl of Kingsley, Iowa; a nephew and his wife, James and Linda Siple of LeMars; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Glen.
