OBITUARY
Sioux City Journal January 1994John Clarey Jr.
Merrill, Iowa—John F. “Jack” Clarey Jr., 68 of Merrill, died Friday, Jan. 14, 1994 at his residence after a long illness.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ellendale, Iowa, with the Rev. Richard D. Ball officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 6-9 p.m. and a 7 p.m. vigil service at the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mr. Clarey was born Feb. 23, 1925 in Merrill, son of John F. Sr. and Esther (McCorkell) Clarey. He married Mary Cote April 19, 1948. She died June 28, 1960. He married Nadine [Kraft] Bunch Jan. 25, 1964 in Sioux City. He lived in the Merrill area all his life and was the owner/operator of a service station until 1965. He then moved to rural Merrill to farm. He had also worked for Plueger Service in Akron.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, John and Marlene [Clarey] of Akron, Larry and Mary [Bunch] of Hinton, Iowa; eight daughters, Mrs. Roger (Evelyn) Brunsting of Merrill, Mrs. Ron (Glenda) [Bunch] Pridie of Hinton, Iowa, Mrs. Rod (Jeanne) Groon, Mrs. Mark (Maureen) Larson, and Mrs. Randy (Jeannette) Plueger all of Akron, Cheryl [Bunch] Brenden of Hampstead, Md., Becky [Bunch] Ludwig of Houston, and Mrs. Ron (Joanne) Fuller of Cedar Falls, Iowa; three brothers, Raymond of Beardstown, Ill., Paul “Al” of LeMars, Iowa, and Rich[ard] of Petaluma, Calif; five sisters, Ann DeRocher of Merrill, Iowa, Patricia Graham and Donna Vondrak, both of Sioux City, Lu[cille] Beck of Columbus, Neb, and Lucene Sitzmann of Kingsley, Iowa; 35 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Johnny, Tim, Mike and Joe Clarey, Tracy Brenden, Ben Beaulieu, Jason Pridie and Dustin Hemmingsen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Daniel and Fred, and an infant son, Robert.
