OBITUARY

Mrs. John F. Clarey Sr.

Mrs. John F. Clarey Sr. Merrill, died Saturday, Feb.1 [1969] at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

The former Esther I. McCorkell, she was born Feb. 14, 1903, at Akron. She lived in the Merrill community the last 45 years. She was married Oct. 24, 1923 at Akron.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Ellendale.

Survivors are her husband; four sons, John Jr. and Paul, both of Merrill, Richard of Cotati, Calif., and Ray of Estherville; five daughters, Mrs. Patricia Graham and Mrs. Donna Vondrak, both of Sioux City, Mrs. Ann DeRocher of Merrill, Mrs. Lucene Sitzmann of Kingsley, and Mrs. Lucille Beck of Estherville.

Also surviving are a brother Wesley McCorkell of Canistota, S.D.; six sisters, Mrs. Alta Mentzer of LeMars, Mrs. Dorothy Whitaker of Hamilton, Ill, Mrs. Caryl Siebens of Akron, Mrs. Eva[h] Olson and Mrs. Lois Nielsen, both of Sioux City, Mrs. Jeanne Esterburg of Alexandria, Minn; 46 grandchildren and a great grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic church in Ellendale.

Rev. Richard A. Sitzmann will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery at Ellendale under direction of the Larkin funeral home of Sioux City.

The rosary will be recited at 8 o’clock Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers, all grandsons, will be John and Tim Clarey, Dale and Fred Graham, Larry Bunch, and Larry DeRocher.
