Funeral Saturday for Alphonse Pick

Funeral services for Alphonse Pick, 66, of Remsen, were held at 10 o’clock Saturday morning, October 2, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church here. Rev. Donald Slaven officiated and burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Mr. Pick died Wednesday evening, September 29 at Floyd Valley Hospital, LeMars, after a brief illness.

He was born February 22, 1905, at Remsen, the son of Jacob and Anna Pick. His marriage to Erma Thiel took place October 25, 1927 at Remsen. They had farmed near Remsen before retiring to town in 1966, and Mr. Pick had been employed as office manager at Feller Auto Sales in Remsen.

He was a member of Msgr. Schemel Council of the Knights of Columbus.

Surviving are the widow, Erma; five sons, Glenn, Daniel and Clifford of Remsen, Joseph of Sioux City and Jerry of Omaha, Nebr.; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Rhodes, Mrs. Peter (Doris) Feller of Remsen and Mrs. Harold (Vera) Berding of Hospers, Ia.; one brother Gregory of Remsen; one sister, Mrs. Clara Johnson of Remsen and 38 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Tony, Aloysius and Arthur and two sisters, Mrs. Myra Poeckes and Mrs. Kate Wiederholt.

Casket bearers were John Pick, Wm. Christoffel, Leo Pick, Alfred Pick, Clyde Means and John Thiel Jr. The Fisch Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
