Rites Saturday for Mrs. Smith

Mrs. Ray (Veronica) Smith, 70, died Thursday, December 26 at Cedar Manor in Tipton, Iowa. She had been ailing for some time.

Funeral services were held at noon Saturday, December 28 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church here. Msgr. F. P. Schultes officiated and burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Veronica Pick Smith was born January 26, 1898 at Remsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Pick. She married Ray Smith on June 2, 1919 at Remsen. She made her home in Remsen until a year ago.

She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Francis (Laura Mae) Drumbarger and Mrs. Paul (Helen) Caspers of Lisbon, Ia.; two sons, James and Donald of Lisbon, Ia.; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gregor Pick and Alphonse Pick of Remsen; and a sister; Mrs. Clara Johnson, also of Remsen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son and one daughter.

The funeral was directed by the Fisch Funeral Home.
