Kathleen Bohnenkamp, 73, of Remsen, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Kathleen Bohnenkamp was born Nov. 1, 1935, at Beresford, S.D., the daughter of Ralph and Margaret (Brown) Lyle. Kathy was raised in the Beresford area and attended grade school at North Spink Country Grade School for eight years, then attended Mount Marty High School at Yankton, S.D., graduating in 1953. She then went on to college at Briar Cliff in Sioux City, graduating in 1957 with a major in home economics education and a minor in social studies, and then taught home ec. for a short time at Pilger, Neb. On June 8, 1957, she married Tom Bohnenkamp at Garryowen, S.D. They made their home near Remsen where they were engaged in farming and she also taught at both Remsen Union School and St. Mary Catholic School.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Remsen and Christian Women's Guild. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, golfing, bowling and family gatherings.

Survivors include her husband, Tom and one brother-in-law, Richard and his wife Dorothy, all of Remsen; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie and her husband David Henrich of Tucson, Ariz., and Jeanette Bohnenkamp of Ames; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Dr. Virgil Bohnenkamp.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Remsen with the Rev. William McCarty officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Remsen. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday. There will be a rosary at 3 p.m. by the Christian Women's Guild, and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m.. all at the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Casketbearers will be Roger, Jerry, Jim and Phillip Bohnenkamp, Jerry and Jeff Henrich.

Honorary bearers will be Dale and Marilyn Drum, Clarence and Veronica Harpenau, Paul and Ethel Homan, Don and Sylvia Konopasek, Dick and Isabelle Laddusaw, Sheryl, Debbie and Donald Offerdahl, Don and Pat Schiltz, Dave and Shirley Vander Hamm and Lloyd and Phyllis Wolf.
