RUTH HEMPHILL SUCCUMBS;
FUNERAL SERVICES FRIDAYMrs. Bill (Ruth) Hemphill, 66, who lived in LeMars most of her life, died Wednesday (May 2, 1979) at Floyd Valley Hospital after a long illness. She had been hospitalized two weeks.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Mauer funeral home with Rev. James D. Ransom officiating. Burial will be in LeMars Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Mauer funeral home.
Ruth Evelyn Fox was born July 7, 1912, at Yankton, S.D., to Harry and Madge Mosher Fox. She came to LeMars as a child and had since lived here.
Her marriage to Gerald (Bill) Hemphill took place in Des Moines Aug. 28 (sic 27), 1938.
Mr. Hemphill died Jan. 29, 1978. He had been a long time director of social services in Plymouth County. She also was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
Mrs. Hemphill had been employed at the Plymouth County ASC office for a number of years before she retired. In recent years she had been a homemaker.
She is survived by two sisters, Marianne Means of LeMars and Barbara Thunhorst, of Primghar.
