Doris Rakness, 58, of Le Mars, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at The Abbey of Le Mars following a lengthy illness.

Doris Rakness was born Sept. 17, 1944, at Janesville, Wis. She moved to Le Mars in the late 1980s from Fairmont, Minn., where she worked in a local nursing home. In Le Mars, Doris worked at Alco Department Store and Hy-Vee Grocery Store. She had been with the housekeeping staff at The Abbey of Le Mars since 1990.

She will be missed by the staff and residents of The Abbey.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother and sister.

Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. today (Friday) at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. The Rev. Larry Fett of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars will officiate. Visitation began at 9 a.m. at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home and continued until service time.
