Jack Roberts, 83, of Le Mars, died Saturday, March 10, 2007, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.
Jack Richard Roberts was born June 7, 1923, to Dick and Maude (Ries) Roberts. Jack received his education in Le Mars. He had worked at a packing plant in Sioux City for a few years before he began his career with the Chesterman Company in Sioux City. He worked for 42 years with the beverage distributor. Jack was united in marriage to Helen Burkhardt on July 28, 1945, at Cherokee. To this union three children were born, Stephen, Kathy, and Jolene.
Jack and Helen had made there home in Le Mars. They were longtime members of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ. Jack enjoyed spending time at the summer home at Lake Okoboji. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and woodworking. He enjoyed sharing these talents with his grandchildren.
In his retirement years, Jack enjoyed going for coffee and visiting with people. He also enjoyed driving cars for the local car dealerships.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Solomon and her husband Mike of Sioux City, and Jolene Lind of Le Mars; six grandchildren, Mike Roberts, Amy Adamski, Jay Solomon, Janelle Matthes, Kyle Lind, and Kelly Lind; seven great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Roberts, Rex Roberts, Xavier Roberts, Glavine Matthes, Derek Matthes, Ashland Adamski and Stephen Adamski; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Maude (Ries) Roberts; his wife Helen on June 12, 2003; a son, Stephen in November 2002; and two sisters, Helen Johnson and Kathryn in infancy.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the Rev. Drew Tomberlin of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today (Monday) at the Carlsen Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends after 6 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until service time.
Pallbearers will be Mike Roberts, Dariusz Adamski, Jay Solomon, Todd Matthes, Kyle Lind, and Kelly Lind.
