Gale G. Bleasdell, 70, 923 1st Ave., South Sioux City, Neb., a retired school teacher, died Friday (Nov. 17, 1978) at a Sioux City hospital after an illness of five weeks. He suffered a heart attack.

Funeral services were held Monday at 10 a.m. at Hope Lutheran church, South Sioux City, with Rev. James Weyland officiating.

Burial was in the Le Mars Memorial cemetery under the direction of the Jack E. Becker funeral home.

Mr. Bleasdell was born Aug. 20, 1908, at Kingsley. He graduated from Le Mars high school, Westmar college and Iowa State university at Ames. He had earned a BA degree and a master’s degree in science.

He moved to South Sioux City from Randolph, Neb., 11 years ago. He had taught school in Iowa and Nebraska with his last teaching assignment at Council Bluffs in 1973 after which he retired.

His marriage to Bernice Riedemann took place Dec. 22, 1967, at South Sioux City.

Mr. Bleasdell was a member of Hope Lutheran church, South Sioux City. A memorial has been established at the church in his name.

Survivors are his wife Bernice, a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Deanna) Matz, South Sioux City; a son, Gary of Corpus Christi, Texas; a step-daughter, Mrs. Karen Reddon of Thermopolis, Wyo., and three grandsons.

Mrs. Bleasdell is a sister of Mrs. Robert (Irene) MaComb of Le Mars and Mr. Bleasdell was a nephew of Mrs. Clyde Pelton.
