Nancy Lou Gabel, 62, of Le Mars, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Nancy Lou Gabel was born Oct. 8, 1945, in Le Mars, the daughter of Ralph and Mildred (Philips) Gabel. She lived her entire live in Plymouth County. Nancy attended school in Sheldon and Brunsville as well as the Harriet Ballou New Hope Center in Sioux City. After her education Nancy worked for a brief time at Life Skills Training Center in Le Mars.

Nancy was a loving person, one of God's very special children. She was especially fond of her nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews. Nancy lived with her parents until she moved to Plymouth Manor Care Center in August 2003.

She will be lovingly remembered by her two sisters, Marilyn Heitman and her husband Myron of Williamsburg, and Jane Peterson and her husband Gary of Le Mars; 11 nieces and nephews; 25 grandnieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother in 2003 and her father 2005.

Celebration of Life Service will take place at 11a.m. Wednesday at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars. The Rev. Jon Meredith will officiate. A private family burial will take place at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars prior to the service. Visitation with the family will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Life Skills Training Center in Le Mars.
