Services Friday
in Le Mars

Ida M. Petersen, 92, of Le Mars,
died Monday, March 4, 1996, at
Brentwood Good Samaritan Center
in Le Mars.

Mrs. Petersen, the former Ida Matilda
Ahrendt, was born Oct. 2,
1903, in Grant Township, Plymouth
County, the daughter of
Carl J. and Elizabeth (Westhoff)
Ahrendt. She was confirmed in
Christ Lutheran Church in Grant
Township and attended rural
school. She spent her childhood
years in Grant Township except for
two years when her family lived at
Lodi, Calif.

She had worked for many years
as a cook at the Le Mars Sale Barn.
She married Jack J. Petersen on Jan.
14, 1951, at Merrill. They farmed
north of Merrill for many years.

Mr. Petersen died Aug. 20, 1985,
and she moved to Le Mars in 1986.
She had been a resident of area
nursing homes the past six years.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran
Church in Le Mars.

Survivors include: a sister, Bertha
Waldum of Sioux City; a special
friend, Mrs. Lloyd (Evelyn) Kallsen
of Le Mars; and several nieces and
nephews.

She was preceded in death by her
parents; 1 husband; two brothers,
Herbert in childhood and Carl W.;
and three sisters, Mary Binneboese,
Sophia Zieger and Louise Kruse.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday
at St. John's Lutheran Church
ELCA in Le Mars. The Rev. Gary
Landsness will officiate, with burial
in Hillside Cemetery at Merrill.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m.
Thursday, with the family present
from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Mauer-
Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.
