Albert F. Bohlken

Albert F. Bohlken, 75, died Jan. 9 in Lisbon, N.D., after a long illness.
Funeral services were held Jan. 12 at First Presbyterian church in Lisbon.
Mr. Bohlken was a native of Le Mars, where he was born Feb. 10, 1896 to Seifka and Margaret Willms Bohlken.
He served in the Mexican border war and with the Rainbow division in France in world war 1.
He married Jessie Colson Dec 25, 1919 in Le Mars, and they went to Lisbon in 1920, settling on a farm northeast of town. In 1936, they moved in to Lisbon, purchasing the Gamble store from John Muralt.
After moving to the present location of the Bohlken hardware and furniture store in 1939, they suffered a fire which gutted the building, and rebuilt the present store building in the early 1940’s.
He was a charter member of the civic and commerce Assn; past commander of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign wars, and belonged to the Presbyterian church and the Masonic lodge.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Robert and Willis of Lisbon; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Helen) Pagel of Britton, S.D., eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was the last survivor of family of six brothers and six sisters. Interment was made in Oakwood cemetery at Lisbon.
