LAWTON, Iowa -- LeRoy Bernard Hoelker, 82, of Lawton died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville, Iowa, with the Rev. Roger J. Augustine officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery in Lawton. Visitation will begin 4 p.m. today, with the family present at 6 p.m., and a parish vigil at 7:30 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville.

LeRoy was born Dec. 7, 1921, in Kingsley, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Katherine (Grossman) Hoelker. He attended school near Lawton and graduated from Lawton High School in 1940. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Marines and served during World War II.

LeRoy married Beverly Sohler on Oct. 25, 1947. Together they farmed near Lawton.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He had served on the Lawton School Board, was a Banner Township Trustee, County Committee member of the Woodbury County ASCS and a member of the American Legion Post 718 in Lawton.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly of Lawton; two daughters, Kathy and her husband, Bill Goodwin of Lawton and Shari Hoelker of Omaha, Neb.; two sons, Chuck and his wife, Chris Hoelker of Kingsley and Rory and his wife, Cris Hoelker of Folsom, Calif.; a brother and his wife, Joseph and Betty Hoelker of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Ilene Reynolds of Sioux City, Evelyne and her husband, Clete Hennings of Modesto, Calif. and Verla Carroll of Sloan, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
