PIERSON, Iowa -- Phyllis A. Harms, 72, of Pierson died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at Kingsley Nursing & Rehab Center in Kingsley, Iowa.

Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pierson United Methodist Church in Pierson. A private family committal service will be at a later date. There will be no visitation or public viewing. Arrangements are being handled by Rohde-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley, Iowa.

Phyllis was born April 5, 1931, at New Underwood, S.D., to Ralph and Marjorie (Williams) Delambert. As a young child, she moved with her family to Pierson, where she had remained ever since. In 1948 she graduated from Pierson High School and then attended nurse's training at Methodist Hospital in Sioux City, graduating in 1951.

She married Kenneth Harms on Dec. 24, 1951, while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. She had worked as a nurse in Bangor, Maine, and Alexander, La. She worked as a registered nurse for 30 years at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee, Iowa. Phyllis and her husband had a place in Spirit Lake, Iowa, where they enjoyed spending time with their family and friends during the summer. Phyllis was an avid reader and loved doing crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her husband, Kenny of Pierson; a son, Tom Harms of St. Paul, Minn.; a daughter, Jill Baumann and her husband, Chuck of Washta, Iowa; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eleanore Jessen of Kingsley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Audrey Delambert; a son, Richard; and a grandson, Nick.
