LE MARS, Iowa -- Evelyn Hansen, 83, of Le Mars, formerly of South Sioux City, died Friday, July 23, 2004, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. William McCarthy officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery at Oyens, Iowa. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m., at Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.

The former Evelyn Josephine Fiedler was born Jan. 8, 1921, in Le Mars, the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Kintzle) Fiedler. She was raised in the Oyens and Le Mars area and graduated from Le Mars Central High School.

On April 17, 1954, Evelyn married Marvin H. Hansen at Luverne, Minn. For the most part, the couple lived their married lives in South Sioux City and had owned and operated the Pink Elephant and Marv's Tap. Evelyn also had worked in area grocery stores. In her later years, she was a homemaker.

Evelyn was an avid gardener and was a very good cook. She also was an avid sports fan and enjoyed fishing with her husband.

Survivors include a sister, Delphine Willms and her husband, Dick, of Le Mars; a sister-in-law, Allene Fiedler of Le Mars; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ray Fiedler; three sisters, Mrs. Conrad (Viola) Nussbaum, Mrs. Cletus (Bernice) Mayrose and Mrs. George (Margaret) Dirksen; and a nephew, Doug Willms.

Pallbearers will be six nephews, George Dirksen, Mike Dirksen, Larry Fiedler, Mel David, Roger Nussbaum and Gary Nussbaum.
