Richard M. "Dick" Lamoureux Sr., 78, of Sioux City died Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City, with military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Sergeant Floyd Post 1973. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:30 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mr. Lamoureux was born Nov. 15, 1923, in Akron, Iowa, the son of J.N. "Nap" and Mary "Edna" (Dagliesh) Lamoureux. He served in the U.S. Army with the 87th Mountain Infantry in Italy during World War II.

He married Betty M. Quintal on June 7, 1947, in Sioux City. He had been a route man with Roberts Dairy for several years until moving to Carroll, Iowa, where he was employed with Omar Bakery. While living in Carroll, he later went to work for the Farner-Bocken Co., returning to Sioux City in 1965. Later he became employed with People's Furniture for 15 years, eventually leaving to go to work for KD Veterinary Supply until retiring. Most recently, he was a salesman with Fashion Floors.

He was a member of the Sioux City Eagles, Veterans of Foreign Wars Sergeant Floyd Post 1973, American Legion Monahan Post 64 and St. Boniface Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; a son, Richard M. "Rick" Lamoureux Jr. of Rogers, Ark.; three daughters, Jeanne M. and her husband, James B. Miller of Sioux City, Cynthia M. and her husband, Patrick J. Enright of Dakota Dunes, and Deena M. Kuykendall of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three brothers, Royal Lamoureux and his wife, Betty of Loveland, Colo., Wayne Lamoureux of Sioux City and Patrick Lamoureux and his wife, Mary Ann of Littleton, Colo.; four sisters, Marguerite and her husband, Francis Vondrak of Sioux City, Janice Vondrak of Petaluma, Calif., Luene and her husband, Larry Petersen of Merrill, Iowa, and Beverly Bytnar of Columbus, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Donna R. Lamoureux; and two brothers-in-law, Floyd Vondrak and Frank Bytnar.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jamey, Jery, Joe, Rusty and Nick Miller and Corey Enright.
