LE MARS, Iowa -- Arlene Lampe, 66, of Le Mars passed away at her residence on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, following a 10-year battle with cancer.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. James Tigges officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Le Mars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 4 to 8 p.m., a parish rosary at 4 p.m. and a Scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m., at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
Rena Arlene Lampe was born on April 7, 1938, in Los Angeles, Calif., the daughter of Herbert and Claudia (Eslinger) Moses. She was raised in the Los Angeles area until her family moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho. Arlene graduated from high school in Idaho Falls in 1956. Following her education, she worked as a secretary.
On June 13, 1958, Arlene and Robert Lampe were united in marriage at Idaho Falls. The couple made their home in Le Mars, where Arlene stayed at home to raise their children. In 1969, the family moved to Remsen, Iowa, where they owned and operated Bob's Service and Tire. Arlene helped Bob with the bookkeeping. The family returned to Le Mars in 1990.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. Arlene was an avid sports fan and never missed one of her children's or grandchildren's sporting events. Some of her favorite teams were the Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Cubs.
Arlene will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 46 years, Robert of Le Mars; her six children, Vicki Sterman and her husband, Lee, of Crestview, Fla., Alan and his wife, Theresa, of Maple Grove, Minn., Dale and his wife, Kim, of Minneapolis, Minn., Angela Eilts and her fiance, Mike Majeres, of Remsen, Margie Gallagher and her husband, Jon, of Flandreau, S.D., and Robyn Lampe and her fiance, Justin Haggin, of Sioux City; eight grandchildren, Brett and Kayla Sterman, Jonathan and Jade Gallagher, Brynn and Aidan Lampe, Cooper Lampe and Tanner Eilts; four step-grandchildren, Jeremy, Derek and Austin Majeres and Justice Haggin; a brother, Ron Moses, of Temecula, Calif.; three sisters, D'Neva Damon and her husband, John, of Temecula, Mary Tipton of Portland, Ore., and Diana Schiltz and her husband, James, of Casa Grande, Ariz.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Cecelia Ann Kearns; and her mother and father-in-law, Elva and Louis Lampe.
