OCCUPATION: The couple made their home in Norway Township for 40 years. When they retired in 1965, they moved to Akron. He died in 1987.
SURVIVORS: include a son, Merlin and his wife, Berdine of Ames, Iowa; two daughters, Arley Philips and her husband, Jason, of Akron, and Donna Westphal and her husband, Dale, of Southern Pines, N.C.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
PRECEDED in DEATH by: a granddaughter, Melanie Philips; and seven sisters, Tillie Stricker, Mary Staum, Anna Erickson, Metha Kryger, Christina Ulvog, Clara Danielson, and Alice Lund; and a brother in infancy.
