MRS. LESLIE SMITH
LE MARS, Iowa—Mrs. Leslie Smith, 87, of LeMars, died Thursday at the Akron Community Hospital after brief illness.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in St. John's American Lutheran Church at LeMars with Rev. Tom Lee officiating. Burial will be in the LeMars Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith, the former Pearl Barnes, was born on Feb. 20, 1896, in La Mar, Mo. She married Leslie Smith on Nov. 24, 1915, in Akron. The couple moved to LeMars in 1955. Mr. Smith died Dec. 15, 1978.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Darlene Ruhland of Hinton; a brother, Jess Barnes of LeMars; a sister, Mrs. Addie Corder of Broken Arrow, Okla.; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Smith was a member of St. John's American Lutheran Church in LeMars.

Mrs. Leslie (Pearl) Smith, 87, longtime Le Mars and area resident, died Thursday (Sept. 15,1983) at the Akron City Hospital after a brief illness.
Services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's American Lutheran Church, Le Mars. Rev. Tom Lee will officiate and burial will be in Le Mars Memorial Cemetery under direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home.
Pearl Barnes was born Feb. 20, 1896, at Lamar, Mo., to Charles and Hannah Mann Barnes. She married Leslie Smith Nov. 24, 1915, at Akron. She lived in Le Mars since 1955 and prior to that time farmed with her late husband. He died Dec. 15,1978. She was a member of St. John's Church.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Darlene Ruhland, Hinton; two grandsons, Blue Ruhland, Le Mars, and Norbert Ruhland, Kingsley; three granddaughters, Mrs. Arnold (Jeannine) Keunen, Mrs. Gayle (Annette) Sitzmann and Mrs. Leo (Joann) Langel, all of Le Mars; a brother Jess Barnes, Le Mars; a sister, Mrs. Addie Corder, Broken Arrow, Okla., and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother.
